thumbup new Australia servers, Europe servers, and “smashoff” server
April 05, 2014, 12:42:18 AM HST by izzy
recently we put up some AoS servers in Australia and Europe. big thanks to topo for providing the resources in Australia and rakiru for providing the resources in Europe.

Australia

Europe (France)

we also have a new server running the smashoff game mode by Dr.Morphman. in this game mode, causing damage to enemies physically pushes them away from you. the more damage you cause, the farther back they will be pushed. the goal? to smash them off the edge of the map to their death! :D

xx Danko's Zombie Survival
April 02, 2014, 06:02:07 PM HST by Danke

Hey, this is my server! Wow!
So here's a quick rundown:

The game is Blue vs Green
Green team is zombies, and they are all bots - computer players.
Blue team is for players.

The Zombie will keep the server full: with one human player there will be 31 zombies, 16 humans: 16 zombies. The server is limited to 16 human players total (on blue or spectator).

Zombies take about 20% damage compared to regular AoS. If a zombie has intel he takes 5% damage except for headshots which are 10%.
The tents (both blue and green) rotate around the map in a circle. The blue tent will refill your grenades, ammo, and blocks while the green tent will heal you.

The Intel:
Intel is different than in regular CTF. If you are holding intel, all zombies will go after you. They will target other humans if fairly close, but in general they will only go after you.
Wherever the intel is, whether held by a human or on the ground, that grid coordinate (on the map) will be protected - Zombies will not be able to break blocks inside that square.
Additionally, zombies will now go after groups of humans if there is no intel carrier.
Capturing intel will reset it like normal, and the capturing player will be able to instakill the next 16 zombies he shoots. This is done on a bullet by bullet basis, so a shotgun will tend to waste this advantage.
If you want to drop intel in a coordinate or give it to someone else, you can use the command /drop. It will prevent you from picking it back up for a very short period of time.

Intel Zombie:
One zombie will hold the human intel. This zombie will do 100 HP damage per swing of his spade. Additionally all zombies jump if they are unable to walk forward - the intel zombie will tear a hole in any blocks near him when he jumps. When he dies he will also explode, and this explosion can kill you easily. Zombies cannot crouch, so a two-block high doorway in a protected zone is sufficient to keeping zombies out.

There is also a very slight chance when you kill a zombie that the entire zombie team will immediately respawn inside that zombie's dead body. Be careful!

FSOM - April

Saturday 5 April 2014, 5PM GMT
Times Worldwide: goo.gl/2nCKLf
Server: http://aos075.aloha.pk:30886/

Hello Aloha PKers!  We invite you all to FSOM Staff vs Forums!

Unlike prior staff vs forums events, this time staff will be using shotguns only in a CTF custom map game mode.  Forums can use whatever weapon they want!

There's a map vote as well.  So click **here** and vote for your favorite map.  A list of maps with picture is in the spoiler below:

Spoiler for unknown:
Skullfort:

Shanghai

EpicForts

Like every FSOM event, team comradery is important, so most communication will take place over Mumble.  For details on installing mumble, click the spoiler below (it's really easy).  Join us on mumble!

Even if you don't have a mic, or don't wish to speak, please install mumble anyway.  This way you can at least hear our communications.  The installation will be even easier.

Spoiler for Mumble Info:
Mumble can be downloaded here:
http://www.mumble.com/

Download the client software on the right side of the screen.  Installation is pretty simple, as there's a wizard when you first start the application to help you set up your mic and audio.

I highly recommend using a button to activate it, rather than having your mic turn on automatically when it picks up noise.  This is especially true for laptop users or those using a webcam w/ mic.  You'll have this option towards the end of the wizard (my push-to-talk is set to mouse button 5, your scroll button (click, not scroll) is also free in aos for you 3 button mouse owners).

If you choose to do push-to-talk, keep your threshold rather low (so that it's easier to pick up sounds), this means your blue part of the meter should be small.  If instead you are using auto-detect, be sure to keep your threshold toward the high end, or else the rest of us will pick up your game and background noise, which can get quite irritating, especially with 16 people.

Once you've setup your microphone, click the picture of the world icon.  Then click "Add New" and enter the following:

Label: Aloha
Address: Mumble.aloha.pk
Port: 64738 (unchanged)
Username:  Your username.   Please stick to your most common username, as after you register, you'll never get to change it.

For more detailed mumble setup information, check out this post here: http://aloha.pk/index.php?topic=3721.msg34375#msg34375

Once you're connected, double click on Aloha to put you in that channel.  On the event day there will be channels for Blue and Green team.

Please try to be on mumble 15 minutes prior to the event.  Thanks!

February 14, 2014, 12:31:35 PM HST by izzy
aloha player killers is a mere 3 years old today! initially launched with a conceptualized plan - based on the aloha spirit - to be a different kind of gaming community; one that honors close-knit, respectful behavior. it has already grown way beyond my imagination, not only in numbers but also as something that i can only describe as an explosion of the pay it forward phenomenon, fueled completely through mutual understandings reflected by members like you and me. i'm amazed by the remarkable community that we have become and i'm so happy to be a part of it. i can't thank every one of you enough for everything you do. here's to another great year ahead!

big mahalos and aloha,

xx Leaderboards and statistics!
January 17, 2014, 10:01:04 AM HST by BR
For the last few days we've been working on making a website for your Ace of Spades statistics. We're excited that it's finally ready to show you!

Click here to view the leaderboards, or click "AoS Stats" in the navigation bar.

For now, all we're tracking is kills and deaths. In the future, we will add stats about, for example, intels captured, blocks placed, and accuracy.
For example, how cool would a page like this be?
If you have ideas for additional stats to track, reply :)
Ideas we already have: link link link link

To be tracked, you have to be logged in. Use your forum name and password. The command is: /login <username> <password>. Make sure you only log in on official aloha servers! All of our servers are on the serverlist on that page.
If your forum password is too long to comfortably type, or you're worried about leaking it, you can set an AoS-only password in your profile.

1) build an in-game AoS structure that reads, "2014"

2) take a screen shot of said structure

3) upload the screen shot to http://imgur.com and link it in a reply to this topic (or attach/upload directly to aloha.pk in the reply form)

readable screen shots will be moved to this first post and appear on the front page of aloha.pk in the order that they were submitted.

happy new year!

Welcome AlohaPkers, its that time of the month again where you get to clean that rifle, smg, or shotgun  and check your magazine hoping to win and have some fun on a "dead" gamemode, its FSOM!  Since Infiltration is an empty server, and because some of the community have taken an interest in having it revived, it is going to be the gamemode for FSOM. Don't forget to reserve your seats by replying to this thread remember that blue can only have about 10 or so players.

Essentially what Infiltration, in a nutshell, is that Green  are the attackers and play a capture the flag gamemode, while blue defends their Intel for an amount of time.

thumbup help fund aloha.pk, get your own server for Ace of Spades Classic
November 14, 2013, 09:02:23 AM HST by izzy
in an effort to encourage donations for our growing debt of expenses, every donation of $10 is good for:
  • one 32 slot Ace of Spades Classic server (pyspades/pysnip) for one month upon request
  • the warm-fuzzy feeling of knowing you're supporting aloha.pk, and our eternal thanks!
  • optional recognition on aloha.pk forums: your name will, if you want, appear green in some areas and also be listed on the front page, Donations page, and Donors section of the Staff List page
other than running on the same hardware and network, your server will be completely separate from aloha.pk AoS servers; it's your own, unbranded, 100% customizable server. it will have its own IP/AoS address. aloha.pk staff won't have access to your server, and it won't look like aloha.pk is hosting it. think of it as renting a server from any of those "professional" hosts out there, with the bonus of personal service quality that's expected of aloha.pk servers, grown from over two years' worth of experience invested in AoS and pyspades/pysnip. plus your server will run natively on our hardware alongside our servers, so there won't be "time drift" lagginess that can occur in virtual environments i.e. VPS, and ensuring minimal lag/service disruptions is a topmost priority because if your server is being affected by something out of your hands then aloha.pk servers are probably being affected as well.

managing your server is pretty straightforward, you don't have to mess with any commands or SSH or anything like that. use your web browser to access the control panel and from there you can:
  • restart your server with the click of a button
  • update or reinstall your server with the click of a button (automatically download and build pyspades/pysnip from source)
  • upload and edit files through a File Manager to install scripts and customize your server however you wish (FTP also available)
  • view your server's live console
  • backup and download a copy of your server with the click of a button
please understand that you'll be self-managing your server. i can point you in the right direction as well as offer a helping hand from time to time at my convenience, but i'm just being upfront when i say it's unrealistic for me to walk you through all the ins and outs of pyspades/pysnip. keep in mind that the asking donation amount will barely cover a regularly full server's bandwidth costs. thanks!

after you donate please send me a private message here (e-mail is ok, too) that includes your PayPal e-mail address so i can reply with your login credentials, otherwise i'll send that information to your PayPal e-mail address. setup will usually happen the same day, but please allow up to a couple days.

this isn't a profit venture, i'm just trying to help aloha.pk break even. all donations will go toward present and future aloha.pk expenses.

big thanks for your help!

FSOM - Halloween
Thanks to everyone who participated!

Saturday 2 Nov 2013, 3PM GMT
Times Worldwide: http://goo.gl/23IAbh
Server: http://aos075.aloha.pk:37886/
Reserve Your Seat Here!

Hello Aloha PKers!  We invite you all to FSOM - Halloween!

Because Halloween ran so close to November's First Saturday of the Month event, we decided to make a Halloween-themed event.

The game mode will be Humans vs. Zombies, with (probably) a custom map.

Humans vs. Zombies is a classic CTF game mode with a major twist:  The green team are zombies and are unable to use weapons.  However, they have increased health, and the ability to jump several blocks up in the air by right clicking with the spade.  Blue team is composed of human players who can use all the traditional weapons, however, you'll need several more shots than normal to kill a zombie!

The game time is very Euro-friendly this time, so everyone in the EU and those east, sign up!  Reply to this thread (or click Reserve Your Seat above) and join us on November 2nd!

Like every FSOM event, team comradery is important, so most communication will take place over Mumble.  For details on installing mumble, click the spoiler below (it's really easy).  We'll definitely be splitting the mumble chat into teams this time, so be a team player and join us on mumble!

Even if you don't have a mic, or don't wish to speak, please install mumble anyway.  This way you can at least hear our communications.  The installation will be even easier.

Spoiler for Mumble Info:

Once you're connected, double click on Aloha to put you in that channel.  On the event day there will be channels for Blue and Green team.

For details on this event, please contact this event's coordinator: Thufman.  For reserving your spot or choosing a team, simply post in this thread or contact myself.

Please try to be on mumble 15 minutes prior to the event.  Thanks!
